| FOUR years after his last studio album, 2010 will see the release of Zucchero "sugar" Fornaciari's brand new studio album "Chocabeck". Recorded in Los Angeles, London and Bolgheri with producers Don Was (famous for his work with The Rolling Stones, Brian Wilson, Solomon Burke and many other rock royalty, and responsible for the production on Zucchero's last album FLY) and Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen), "Chocabeck" features 11 brand new songs, written by Zucchero, Pasquale Panella, and Mimmo Cavallo (amongst others). The album also features several collaborations: U2's Bono wrote the English version of the track "Il Suono Della Domenica" for the international version (called "Someone Else's Tears"), and Brian Wilson appears as a backing vocalist on the title track. LYRICALLY, Zucchero has described the album as a concept album about his youth in rural Italy, with many songs reaching back to life in small town communities in the 1950s and 1960s. Musically, "Chocabeck" represents a calmer Zucchero - moving away from the soul, blues and rock sounds that so heavily influenced his work before. But while "Chocabeck", with its many string based ballads, may not have you dancing throughout (though it has its moments), it stays true to Zucchero's refined approach to recording music: it's an album filled with beautiful melodies, and fascinating sounds. CHOCABECK will be released in two versions: the original Italian version and an international version featuring "Someone Else's Tears". There will also be a limited edition version (with special packaging) and a 1 LP vinyl version. A UK/US version with English language versions of the songs (including 2 songs with lyrics by Iggy Pop) is expected to be released in 2011. |
