Italian singer Zucchero is back with his ninth album "Blue Sugar". The man who has worked with the likes of Eric Clapton and Pavarotti brings us another excellent collection of music.
Blue Sugar is Zucchero's ninth album and what a delightful collection it is, heralding a whole new creative period for this extremely talented, silky voiced maestro of song.
Adelmo Fornaciari was born in Roncocesi, near Reggio Emilia in September 1955 and after playing with various groups he shot to fame in 1987 with "Blues" which made a huge international impact. And his fame has continued to rocket. Today Zucchero has a huge following.
In this, his latest album, he sings his usual mix of Italian and English, each stamped with Zucchero's very own, individual style.
The Blues undercurrent meanders through most of his songs, but this time there is a stylish backing and mix of strong English rock guitars. This is a whole new dimension, for he has created a sound so totally different that it is sure to carry him well into the millennium.
Of the 11 numbers featured in this collection I really liked his "Donkey Tonkey" - it is real funky number with a beat that moves from the smile on your face right down to your snapping fingers and tapping feet. The first track, "U make me feel loved" sets the mood for this collection which is strong, in your face stuff, varying in pace and mood, from gentle, soft, lingering blues to hard, pounding rock.
Good music to snog, and listen to or to dance, jump, clap and stomp to. The choice is yours. Zucchero has a voice, a sound and a presence that is uniquely his own. And if you understand Italian you will appreciate it even more. Good quality stuff this. Cool listening and worth getting. If Zucchero is your taste than this will be sweet on your ears.
