We´re ba-ack! August 12, 2003
We´re back from our summer break and this is the news (or ´news´ :D) we´ve missed:
TV Sorrisi e Canzoni: Zucch workin´ on an album, release November
My bestest Zucchero friend Lo Ste posted the following article from Italian magazine TV Sorrisi e Canzoni on the Zucchero forum:
"Zucchero sta lavorando alacremente in sala d'incisione. Grandi collaborazioni per il suo album di Novembre (ancora senza titolo) tutto basato su duetti: per il momento si parla di Bono, Eric Clapton, Ronan Keating, Sting, Cranberries. Due gli inediti, il resto sue cover."
Ronan Keating???? Dear god help us all.... (PS. "Cranberries" should of course be Dolores O´Riordan)
Cranberries site: duet album "possibly this autumn"
Alex Kraus (of www.zombieguide.com, check it out!) mailed this excerpt from a statement posted on the official Cranberries site:
Dolores has already recorded a duet with the Italian artist Zucchero for his next album. This song "Puro Amore" will be featured on a collection of duets. No release date has been confirmed, however, it may be this Autumn at earliest. The song was written by Zucchero with adapted English lyrics by Dolores and another lyricist. She also sings in Italian.
Walk of Fame Rotterdam
So much for knowing your own country :). Zucchero´s hands and signature in the Rotterdam Walk of Fame (which also includes basically everybody famous ever visiting Rotterdam like B.B. King, Mark Knopfler, Tina Turner etc. etc. etc.).
James Brown: No Zucchero July 22, 2003
The news that Zucchero would be performing with soul giant James Brown during one of his shows in Italy this week as reported in several Italian newspapers and websites is false; Zucchero's lawyers have released a statement today saying Zucchero would not be present during the show. It is unclear why Brown's tourpromoter released the news. The good news is that Rockol.it, one of Italy's biggest music sites, does mention that Zucchero is busy working on the duet album (which will include at least "Puro Amore" with Dolores O'Riordan) but it's not clear if a duet with the "Godfather of Soul" will be included.
Vacation July 17, 2003
We´re on vacation till august 12 so no updates (unless really exciting things happen :D) untill then! have a good summer!
Duet album: Dolores (Cranberries) sings "Puro Amore" July 10, 2003
In an interview with Italian tv-station LA7 Dolores O´Riordan (lead-singer of the Cranberries) said that she recorded the Bluesugar song "Puro Amore" with Zucchero in Italian. She also quoted some of the songs lyrics which she had memorized: "I memorized the verse in Italian, but he didn't want me to sing in your language cause we, English-speakers, when we sing in Italian we sound so foolish. It's also true that Italians sound foolish when they sing in English.". When the duet album will be released stays, in a good Zucchero-tradition, unclear. However with Zucchero´s North and South-American tour starting in October (or at least in Canada, see below) it might be either before (septemberish) or after (christmasish) the tour. Thanks to Alex Kraus (from the amazing www.zombieguide.com) and Aiencran (from www.cranportal.net) for the news!!!!!
