Duet album: Corrado Rustici not involved (oh-oh?)
June 22, 2003

In a reply to a question of mine about the duet album on the forum of his official site Corrado Rustici, the producer of every single Zucchero album since Zucchero & the Randy Jackson band, wrote the following:

I heard that Zucchero has been working on something. But I haven't been in communication with him recently, so I can't really comment.

Peace,
Corrado.

Oh-oh?

Duet album: this autumn (?)
June 16, 2003

According to the Spanish Universal Music site the duet album (for which Zucchero has been recording lately) will be released worldwide this autumn. This weekend Zucchero has been in Spain to play with Maná during some of their concerts (they played the Spanish version of Baila and Eres mi religion together) and last week Zucchero "incontrare"-ed (see below :-D) the Eurythmics´ Dave Stewart and Mouse T (who was responsible for Tom Jones´ smash European hit Sexbomb a few years ago). Not sure if he recorded something with any of them though.

Duet album: Zucchero records with Dolores O´Riordan (Cranberries)
June 08, 2003

According to the official Cranberries site (www.cranberries.com) Zucchero has recorded a duet with the lead singer of the band Dolores O´Riordan. The duet will be included on the duet album (according to the site it will also include songs with Sting, Bono, Bocelli and Pavarotti, the songs he recorded with Brian May, new versions of Il Mare and Solo una sana..., and the never before released songs with Ray Charles, Miles Davis and Stevie Ray Vaughn might be included too). It is unclear when the cd will be released but maybe before the scheduled American tour (october/november)... (thanks Aiencran, http://www.cranportal.net/).

He´s doing something....
June 07, 2003

Official Fanclub news: In Paris Zucchero met up with Eric Benzi (the man behind the Solidays album Zucchero sang on with Johnny Halliday) and French musician Jean Jaqcues Goldman, who has worked with artists like Joe Cocker and Celine Dion and in London he met up with bass player Phil Thornally who has played with The Cure, Bryan Adams, Natalia Imbruglia, Nick Carter and Melanie C. God knows WHY he met up with them and WHAT he did with them though...

Pav. & Friends: Zucchero & Pavarotti, Manà & Queen
May 29, 2003

During last tuesdays Pavarotti and Friends show Zucchero played three songs: Cosi Celeste in a duet with Pavarotti (not a bad version), Eres mi religion with Manà (mwah, not that great) and We are the champions with Queen (Brian May´s introduction: "We have a problem, we want to play We are the champions but we need a singer, so I asked my brother, mio fratello, Zucchero, but he said no.... Do we need Zucchero? Do we need Zucchero?"... they did :-D). U2´s Bono played a pretty good version of Miserere with Pavarotti (in the Italian version and not in his own English version).

Italian newspapers praised Zucchero´s version of We are the champions:

IL CORRIERE DELLA SERA: "...Those who dominated the show were Bono, Queen, Zucchero and Deep Purple.. The duet Queen + Zucchero went beyond expectations.."

IL GIORNALE: "Queen open the show with an irresistible 'We Will Rock You'...the duet with Zucchero in 'We are the champions' is intense..."

LA STAMPA: "There was a stunning excitement in the audience . Extraordinary success for Queen .....Zucchero was brave and good in the masterpiece "We Are The Champions'"

Queenonline, the official Queen site, reports that Brian May has spent a few days in a studio in Bologna with Zucchero to "help him out on several songs", not sure if this is "thé" duet album or something new (either way, goody!).

Pavarotti and Friends 2003
May 26, 2003

Don´t forget tomorrow Rai uno will broadcast Pavarotti and Friends with among others Eric Clapton, Deep Purple, Mána and Zucchero. Zucchero will most likely perform with Mana (either Eres mi religion or Baila or both) and according to Rockol Zucchero will also perform Miserere with Pavarotti and Bono (for a song he hates he does perform it a lot...), Radio Bruno claims Zucchero will sing ´We are the champions´ with Queen. Those of you who can´t get Rai Uno: the show will also be broadcasted on Italian radiostation Radio Bruno.

Pav + Friends 2003: RAI to broadcast
May 11, 2003

Luciano Pavarotti and the RAI have reached an agreement on the broadcasting of the Pav + Friends 2003 show. The show will be broadcasted live on may 27 with several international artists (see below) including Zucchero and Mexican rockband Mana performing Eres mi religion and Baila (?) together.

Pav + Friends 2003 could be cancelled
May 7, 2003

Luciano Pavarotti has said in an interview that with RAI not broadcasting the show Pavarotti and Friends 2003 might not happen at all because sponsors might drop out. No replacement has been found for tv-broadcasting (even though the cast includes artists and bands like Eric Clapton, Queen and Deep Purple). To be continued....

Pav + Friends 2003: cast, RAI might not broadcast
May 5, 2003

The cast of this years Pavarotti and Friends concert is complete. On may 27 Bono, Eric Clapton, Queen (with a special guest filling in for Mercury), Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, Deep Purple, Ricky Martin and Zucchero with Mana will perform alongside Luciano Pavarotti.
