According to Zucchero´s official fanclub Zucchero has returned from his holliday adress (how tough a life of a multi millionair can be :-D) so we ARE expecting new tour dates, a duet cd, a live cd, a (live) dvd and his autobiography pretty soon! :-)). In the meantime members of Zucchero´s official fanclub can send two questions they´d like to ask Zucch to the fanclub. Sun Records tribute on dvd October 19, 2002
In 2000 Zucchero participated on the big Sun Records tribute but his version of Who will the next fool be didn´t make the album (instead Sheryl Crows version was released). The good news is that the song is included in the recently released dvd/video "Good Rockin' Tonight - The Legacy of Sun Records". Zucchero plays the songtogether with, amongst others, Mark Knopfler and Elvis band members Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana. For more info check Amazon.
Mina (and Zucch) in the charts October 16, 2002
"Succhiando L´Uva", a song written by Zucchero and Mino Vergnaghi and sang by Italian singer Mina, has entered the Italian discopress single charts on number 5.
Steve Winwood October 16, 2002

Some present Universal Music is giving Zucchero fans: it has lowered the prices of almost all Zucchero albums! Un po´ di Zucchero, Zucchero & the Randy Jackson band, Rispetto, Blue´s, Oro incenso e birra, Zucchero, Miserere, Spirito DiVino, the Best of (special edition) and Bluesugar are all available for only €10. That is, if you live in Italy..... :-((.

Andrea Piani´s bluesoul site is no longer online which brings the number of active Zucchero fansites down to 4 (Come Back the Sun, the Latin site, Funkygallo and our own Un po´ site). Bluesoul appereantly now joins the other big Zucchero site that has passed away some time ago the In Blues We Trust webzine. Mandi´s American Zucchero site has not really been updated since 2000 (but does have a new slideshow with some great Zucchero pics) and Sugarland, a German website, has not been updated since 1999. Anybody out there who wants to start a new site???

Zucchero has written a song, together with Mino Vergnaghi and some other dude, for the famous (let´s face it: who DOESN`T know her... :-D) Italian signer Mina Mazzini. The song is the first single for Mina´s new album and you can listen to a sample here.

The Dutch charts that is: after two weeks (1st week at 97, second week at 91) the single has been kicked out of the Dutch top 100. Sigh, forgive them... they don´t know any better :-D.

Even though the single was SUPPOSED to be out last week on friday the 13th, nobody on any of the Zucchero forums has been able to actually find it and Universal Music Italy doesn´t name the thing on it´s site so god may know if it´s ACTUALLY REALLY released. Keep y´all updated!
Rai Uno tonight September 14, 2002
Zucchero will be one of the artists performing tonight on Venezia la luna e tu. Zucchero will perform two songs: Sento le Campane earlier on in the show and Rossa mela della sera later on. The show will start at 20:40 Italian time. According to posts on the Zucchero forum Zucchero will also be on Rai Uno on tuesday in Sanremo Immagine Jazz and Blues (at 22:40) Zucchero is supposed to play Sento Le Campane.
Rossa mela della sera new single September 10, 2002
"Rossa mela della sera" (in my opinion one of Shake´s best songs) will be released as the new single in Italy (not promotional; for sale). Information on any extra tracks or videos aren´t available right now. Before "Rossa mela della sera" "Baila (sexy thing", "Ahum" and "Dindondio" were released as singles in Italy and "Sento le Campane" was released as a promotional single. In the rest of Europe both "Baila" and "Ahum" were released and recently a single version of "Ali D´Oro" (or "I lay down" in English) the brilliant duet with John Lee Hooker has been released. In Spain "Baila" and recently "Music in me" were released. "Rossa mela della sera" will be in stores this friday.

I am lucky enough to have seen Zucchero live 6 times now and this show was one of the best and maybe thé best: it´s great to see Zucchero and the "Shakers" have so much fun on stage together and musically the show was amazing (great sound by the way, compliments to the Live at Sunset people!).
Duet cd "pronto" September 8, 2002
Corriere della sera reports Zucchero saying that he is considering releasing a cd filled with duets with international stars "pronto". The "pronto" might explain the set back of the release date for the new live cd to 2003, but don´t get your hopes up: Zucch has been talking about this duet album for quite some time. Good news anyway!
Festivalbar September 8, 2002
Yesterday evening in Verona during the recording of this years final Festivalbar Zucchero won the "Best album of the year" award for Shake. Zucchero and his band played Sento le Campane, Baila and Diamante, which was dedicated to the victims of 11 september in New York and Washington.
Night of the Proms compilation September 8, 2002
A Night of the Proms compilation cd will be released this winter. Although there´s no news on what songs will be on there, it´s almost certain there will be at least 1 Zucchero song there. Zucchero participated in the Night of the Proms concert series in 1999 singing Hai Scelto Me, Il Volo, Madre Dolcissima, X Colpa di chi?, Miserere (with Natalie Choquette), Senza una Donna (with John Miles) and Hey Jude with all the artists. A compilation of the ´99 show is still available (on Amazon.
Live cd/dvd to 2003 September 7, 2002
According to Zucchero´s official fanclub the long awaited live album and dvd will NOT be released untill 2003, no month has been called. No news is available on the duet album either except for the fact that no release date has been picked yet.

Zucchero in the charts September 7, 2002
Seems to be about time to do another "Zucchero in the charts" epsidode! Ali D´Oro, the amazing duet with the late John Lee Hooker, has entered the Dutch Mega Top 100 single charts at 97. The last "hit" Zucchero had in the Netherlands was Baila last year that entered the charts at number 99 and stayed around for three weeks (highest and last position at number 90). Let´s hope Zucchero will do better this time! In the Luxembourg RTL single top 50 Dindondio is on a comfortable number 25 and in the Italian F.I.M.I list Shake is still on number 25 after 50 weeks! In Switzerland "Shake" is still in the album top 100 at number 64, Ali D´Oro is not in the single charts. In Germany, Belgium and Austria Zucchero is not in any of the charts (we know of).
Official Fanclub CD September 6, 2002
The Official Fanclub cd has been sent out to all the members who weren´t one of the lucky bastards (an English review by our friend Federico Armeni for the Funky Gallo site will be posted in the Articles section today)to be there during this years Sugar Day & Night thing, but to the BIG time Zucch fans: don´t get too over excited: Everybody´s Talking was already on the "2 meter sessies volume 9" cd (released in 2000) and the unplugged version of Cosi Celeste sounds A LOT like the one on the "Denk aan henk live sessies" cd released last year (both cd´s are included in our discography), Small Town Blues was already released on the Bluesugar concert cd ticket, but for those who don´t have it (including moi): THIS SONG ROCKS, Zucchero should do WAY more blues. The gospel version of Come il sole all´ improvviso is (unless I am wrong about the Cosi Celeste thing) the only track that wasn´t released before, and is pretty interesting. Conclusion: nice gift but not really worth the waiting...
Tourdates September 6, 2002
Tonight Zucchero will play on a festival in Alicante, Spain. Tomorrow Zucchero will take part in the last night of this years Festivalbar season and on Sunday Zucchero will play on a festival in Oviedo, Spain. No news whatsoever on the American tour, but it SHOULD be coming in soon (of course, we´ve been saying that since March, so I wouldn´t count on it really soon :-D).
