Zucchero will play live on New Years Eve in Cagliari. This will be the first concert Zucchero is gonna give since the end of the Bluesugar tour on New Years Eve 1999 (not counting guest appereances or special gigs like the Sugar Night and Day and the album presentation of Shake). The show will be broadcasted on a local network, for satalite information go to this site. You can listen to the network on that site, but there´s no pictures. Andrea Piani´s Bluesoul site will publish pictures of the concert in the first week of January. This is the list of bands playing:

Zucchero in Dutch top 2000 December 23, 2001
Zucchero again did very well in the Dutch top 2000 on radiostation Radio 2. The top 2000 is a chart of 2000 of the best songs ever, chosen by the people listening to the station. Out of the 3000 songs listed the 2000 songs with the most votes are broadcasted. Zucchero ended up twice in the list: once with Senza Una Donna on place 788 and once with Il Volo on place 421 (even leaving behind classics like CCR´s Proud Mary, Simon and Garfunkle´s Mrs Robinson and even Cream with White Room). Go sugar!!!

Zucchero will be one of the guests at this years FIFA football gala in Zurich. The show will be broadcasted live all over the world. Zucchero will probably playback Ahum/I´m in trouble.
"Zio" Rufus Thomas dies at the age of 84 December 16, 2001
Yesterday, december 15, the legendary blues and gospel singer Rufus Thomas died in a hospital in Memphis. Thomas got the carreers of blues legends like BB King and Bobby "Blue" Bland running through the various talentshows he ran. He also stood very strong as an artist for himself throughout the second part of the last century. Zucchero was a big fan of mr. Thomas, who sings the great intro ("LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! DON`T PANIC! I`VE GOT IT! DON`T PANIC! I`VE GOT IT!") on the Oro incenso e birra song "Overdose d´amore", honoring him in the Spirito DiVino classic X colpa di chi by naming him and one of his best known songs ("Zio Rufus", which means Uncle Rufus, and "Funky Gallo", Thomas had a great song called "Funky Chicken"). Another legend is gone. May he rest in peace. The blues will never die.
Official Shake tour section open December 14, 2001
Just when we thought we created something completely new, sigh, Zucchero´s official fanclub openes her own Shake 2002 tour section. Wannabees!!!! ;))) Seriously, it looks like the section is gonna be extremely interesting: although for now the only part you can actually enter is the dates section (with only the Italian dates of the first part), it also includes the section "Foto´s", "Video" and "News". Something to look forward to!!!

Ali D´Oro new single? December 7, 2001
Will Zucchero´s duet with the late John Lee Hooker "Ali D´Oro" become the new single or not? Ali D´Oro is one of the three songs (together with the single hits Baila and Ahum) that Zucchero will play (or lipsynch) this sunday on Dom&Nika In. Up till now the rumour was going on that either Scintile or Dindondio would be the next single. Anyway, IF Ali D´Oro is indeed the new single, it will probably end up with a very interesting video :).

Zucchero will be a guest in this weeks Dom&Nika In on RAI 1 (Sunday, December 9). Zucchero will sing (or lyp synch...) around 14:30 Zucchero will do Ali D´Oro and Baila (sexy thing) and around 19:30 he will do his latest single Ahum.
Zucchero will also be a guest in the GALA' DELLO SPORT - CAMPIONI DI SEMPRE on Wednesday, December 12 also on RAI 1. Other musical guests include 883 and Renato Zero.
And don´t forget! Zucchero´s also a guest in this years Jose Carreras gala. This show will be broadcasted live on ARD on Friday, December 14.
Zucchero on Dutch tv December 5, 2001
Zucchero will be one of the guests in this years winter season of the tv show "De vrienden van Amstel live", a show in which different artists jam together in a small bar and are being interviewed. The epsidode where Zucchero was one of the guests was recorded last wednesday and will be broadcasted on January 26 at 23:00 on Dutch network RTL4. Other guests in that show are Dutch singer/songwriter, politician and radio-host Henk Westbroek and Dutch blues/rock band Skik.

Zucchero will be one of the artists performing during the Telethon in Paris. Zucchero will be singing (although it´s more likely he´s lip-synching....) Baila (sexy thing). Zucchero´s part will be broadcasted on december 7 at 21:00 in the evening on France 2. The show will be repeated on Tele 5 later but those dates will follow.

Rina Bondavalli died November 27, 2001
Rina Bondavalli, Zucchero´s mother, died last sunday in her sleep. She was 72 years old. She will be burried in a private ceremony. May she rest in peace.

Time for a new "Zucchero in the charts" update: In the Italian album charts Zucchero is doing some pretty good business on nr. 3 (with Pink Floyd and Laura Pausini above him), in the single charts Ahum is on nr. 28 and Baila (sexy thing) on nr. 41. In Switzerland Shake is on nr. 7 of the album top 100, Baila (sexy thing) is doing very well on nr. 8 of the single top 100. In Germany Zucchero is nowhere in the single charts,and he isn´t in the album top 40 either. In Austria Shake is now on nr. 44 of the album top 50 (last week on nr. 50). You won´t find Zucchero anywhere in the Dutch charts. In the French album charts Zucchero is on nr. 47. In the single charts for Flanders Zucchero is on nr. 32, in the rest of Belgium Zucchero is on 19 with Baila, with Shake on nr. 31. In Luxembourg Baila (sexy thing) is on nr. 29 of the single charts.

Trouble in paradise? November 7, 2001
There has been quite some time between the last news item I posted here and this new one, the reason for this is the Bluesoul-affair: Andrea Piani received a letter from Zucchero´s (8) lawyers concerning some information he posted on his site. Andrea posted a part of the letter, saying that he was not allowed to post any info not posted before on the official Zucchero site on Bluesoul. A lot of people got very emotional about this and Andrea stopped (for now) with Bluesoul out of protest. Since we don´t even know Andrea´s story completely, left alone the other side of the story, I decided not to post about it on this site. All I can say is that we got all the news we publish on the Un Po´ Di Zucchero site either from Italian or international music sites, Zucchero´s official site, or other sources, if the news is incorrect (and perhaps harmfull to Zucchero or his organisation) please turn directly to those sources :). I hope Bluesoul will be back online soon. In Blues We Trust.
